About Lisa Skeffington – Anxiety Expert

Hi I’m Lisa

It can be a minefield finding the right help with anxiety.

As an Anxiety Expert with twenty five years of success in the mental health and wellbeing industry, here’s why I believe you can place your trust in me…

You may have been referred to me by your GP or you may just be surfing the net looking for the right help with anxiety for you.  Either way, I hope you will feel that you have found your way to the right place here with me.

If you are feeling confused and overwhelmed by the many different types of therapists out there with different approaches and personalities, I want you to know that I totally ‘get’ that it can be a minefield finding the right help. Indeed, many of my clients struggled before finding their way to me.

If you are a woman typically over 35 and you have lost your emotional balance, you’ve come to the right place. My business tends to attract successful professional women typically in a senior management role who realise the value of investing sensibly in themselves in order to finally secure the right quality help. These smart and busy women are floundering and exasperated under the facade – desperate to overcome imposter syndrome, nagging away that they are never enough. They are ready to take action now.

Once you discover my proven therapies and mentoring strategies, you will quickly learn how to take control and squash anxiety, so that you begin to feel more relaxed, happy, free and secure within yourself.

I’d like to share with you why I believe you can place your trust in me…

You can be reassured that I am an experienced Consultant Psychotherapist and Advanced Hypnotherapist. As a specialist in anxiety, I’ve been helping women like you (and their families) to feel better about themselves for over twenty five years now.  I specialise in all kinds of physical and psychological anxiety symptoms and I have developed a unique blend of therapies, mentoring and coaching methods to help you to take control, feel better and feel good!

I combine my first-hand experiences of trauma, abuse and anxiety, and my longstanding professional training.  My approach has been described as ground-breaking and which sets me apart as a thought leader and pioneer in the field of mental health.

I broke free myself from the clutches of anxiety in my late twenties.  To know me now, you would think I had always been super-confident and calm within myself, but the truth is, I wasn’t always this way.

Back then when I had struggled with anxiety all my life, you wouldn’t believe how underweight I was, or how I stammered over my words, how I had digestive troubles, and horrendous skin problems plagued with acne and cold sores.  I was a victim of abuse at home and bullied at school.  I was crushed to the point that I even suffered nervous convulsions.  Life was just horrid and I contemplated ‘opting out’ on more than one occasion.  I felt so alone and so misunderstood.  I didn’t like who I was and I had no confidence in myself at all.

With help, I got away and got on with my life, but I couldn’t run forever from myself.  Ten years later, post-natal depression sent me spiralling into an emotional breakdown and into the black abyss of depression and anxiety.  My past had caught up with me.  Advanced hypnotherapy and psychotherapy helped me to let go of those past fears and trauma which I had buried for too long.  Giving myself permission to get to understand and accept myself for the first time in my life, I began to break free from the limiting beliefs and opinions about myself, which had stopped me from becoming the woman I was always meant to be.

I broke free myself from the clutches of anxiety over twenty five years ago. To know me now, you would think that I had always been super-confident and calm within myself but the truth is, I wasn’t always this way.

If you are interested to discover a little more about my personal story of anxiety through to finding my way to feeling happy, secure and relaxed within myself as an adult, you might like to read my blog post –Is Anxiety Getting In Your Way?

Since that time, it has become my life’s calling to have helped thousands of people, especially women. It is both my duty and my purpose to help you in the most efficient way, so that you may find your way to feeling free and empowered within yourself, as I did.

The good news for you is that it doesn’t have to be so hard.  I can help you to heed the life lessons so you don’t perhaps make the same mistakes I made along the way.  I can teach you the short cuts to create for yourself the right mindset, and to set the right boundaries.  I can help you to find your way quickly to loving yourself and creating a life that works for you on so many levels, so that you too can feel confident, empowered, happy and secure in your life, as I do now.  We are no different – you and I – and if I can do it, so can you.  You just need to know how.

Originally based in Buckinghamshire in the UK, I developed a strong practice which over time became largely referral-based from a number of GPs and counsellors in the area.  Twelve years ago, I relocated to be by the Dorset coast, and I’m delighted to have successfully established a thriving practice once again working internationally online and with in-person workshops and retreats.

In order to understand me a little more, perhaps you’d be interested to know more about what makes me tick… here goes!…

“There is No-one Who Is You-er Than You!”

…Dr. Seuss says it so well.

Over the past twenty five years as a therapist and mentor, defining my unique approach to helping women like you celebrate your individuality, I have been honoured to help so many women find the resources within themselves to grow into a place of self-acceptance, and to find the confidence that life has in many cases stolen from them.  I offer my help to you in a way that reaches far beyond what is generally available, and how it would have benefited me to receive it.

I have developed my own unique style of working therapeutically, using an uncommon combination of mind tools. We work together very much ‘off the cuff’ in a creative spontaneous way to help you unravel your thoughts, strengthen your resolve and find your way through to success. It is my own unique way of working that delivers success time after time.

My personal experience helps me to ask the right questions at the right time so that we get to the root of the issue quickly. In this way, we begin to understand and unravel the circumstances surrounding the issue, which helps us to work together to find a positive and resourceful way forward.

You will find my approach both flexible and adaptable. This means that whilst working towards a specific outcome, therapy is adjusted to meet the changing needs of you, as my client.  My aim is to support you to better understand yourself, to develop self-awareness which in turn allows you to enhance your life coping skills, in order to embrace positive change and improve the quality of your life.

Working with me means that you can expect to benefit from any number of different approaches from hypnosis for relaxation to Advanced Hypnotherapy using Psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), Counselling, Mentoring and Coaching, to Hypno-Healing, depending on what is required to meet the uniqueness of your situation. This rounded approach ensures that together, we find our way through whatever we need to work through, in a safe and totally confidential way.

My approach to my work is highly professional and the highest standard of conduct and wellbeing is very important to me, not just in my work but in all areas of my life.  You can be assured of my commitment to each and every client, to provide my best service and my best help in the most informed way.

Client confidentiality, along with realistic expectations, are paramount. I also ensure that you are properly informed of terms of business and that you are suitably prepared in understanding your responsibility in the process of change.
