Today’s Inspiration To Brighten Your Day…
There’s a beautiful and strong and bold beech tree in my garden near to one of my consulting rooms. It stands proud and tall. Its trunk is thick and its roots go deeply down through the soil. No storm can move it; it stands firm against all the elements. I’ve watched this tree during the strongest winds in the darkest nights, as the branches sway and the leaves rustle but the solid trunk of this mighty tree simply doesn’t move.
When we wobble in our lives and struggle with anxiety, we have forgotten that we can be like that tree.
It has helped me in past stormy times to think of myself as that tree. Life can sometimes whip up a storm and knowing how to stabilise yourself when the storm hits, can be the difference in how and indeed if, you weather the storm, and survive.
Finding strength…who do YOU lean on?
I often hear people who struggle with anxiety talking about someone in their life as being their ‘rock’ – the one that keeps them from falling in difficult times, the one they look to – who keeps life stable. If you are fortunate enough to have someone in your life, you feel this way about – that’s fantastic and I’m really happy for you.
However, it’s important for you to pay attention to the question you may be ignoring, which is this…
“…With this person being ‘my rock’ in my life, would I be ok without them?”
Or would you crumble and fall?
It’s a wonderful thing to have someone you can count on in your life…
but it’s a much more wonderful thing to know that you can count on You. – Because come what may, you know totally that you will always be there for you. When you trust totally within yourself that you can weather the storm, there is no place for anxiety. Realistically, we can never say that with absolute certainty of anyone because in many different unexpected ways, life can snatch certainty from us in the blink of an eye. First and foremost, you must take steps to become a rock for yourself in your life, or in this case – a tree!
There was a quote which resonated with me recently that I shared on social media, which said,
“Fate whispers to the warrior…. “You Cannot Withstand The Storm”… and the warriors whispers back “I am The Storm”
We owe to ourselves to grow a strength and certainty within us, so that we feel reassured that when life comes whipping up an unexpected storm, we are able to trust ourselves to stand strong and ground ourselves deep within our roots, just like that beautiful old tree in my garden.
Until next time.
With love and light x
